Desires (III)
“When He, the Spirit of Truth has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you.”
John 16:13-14, NKJV.
What bridges the gap between what we desire, hearing from God, and seeing it in our lives? The Holy Spirit - our advocate and helper whom Jesus died so that we can receive.
The Holy Spirit guides us to the truth and tells us what is yet to come according to the will of God. He speaks and speaks only according to the will of God. It is the Holy Spirit that inspires prophecy. It is the Holy Spirit that makes us alert to the movement of God in our lives. If you’ve ever received a word from God, it was delivered through the Holy Spirit.
Not only does the He speak, but He’s here to help you:
“[L]ikewise the Spirit also helps us in our weaknesses. For we do not know hat we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groaning which cannot be uttered.” Romans 8:26-27, NKJV.
So, what does this all mean? If the Holy Spirit can only speak according to the will of God, when God reveals anything to you, you can trust and believe that it is so. Once you’ve surrendered your desires and know that God has spoken, now you can allow the Holy Spirit to help you be prepared for what God intends.
