Obedience Causes Momentum: Sailing in the Wind of God
When you take one step in faith with God, even when you don’t understand and when it doesn’t make any sense, it causes the pieces of your puzzle to begin to come together. Momentum is not about speed, it’s about taking each step that is already ordered for you with force and strength.
Discernment: What It Is and Is Not
Discernment is such an important tool for all believers because it helps us to make the right choices in life. It allows us to "approve the things that are excellent.” See Phillipians 1:10. It helps us make the decisions that shape our lives: what job to take, where to live, who to befriend, who to marry and more. Most importantly, discernment allows us ascertain what is actually of God and flows from His Spirit; it helps us to know what to believe.
The Point of It All
Is dying to yourself something you think about? When is the last time you noticed God changing your ways? When is the last time you presented yourself to Him and genuinely asked Him to search your heart and lead you in the way everlasting? (Study Psalms 139:23). The world is in desperate need of more people who are willing to ask these questions. This is the work of the Christian. This is the continuous need for the fire of God.
The Weight of Favor
People often speak of God’s favor in terms of outward, tangible things - the blessings you can see. The danger in this is, if you don’t study God’s word for yourself, you’ll think something is wrong in the seasons you feel that you’re going through the fire. Mature faith will show you that God’s favor is found not just in tangible outcomes but in His hand upon your life, His provision, and His continued presence as you get to the outcome(s). You’ll learn that favor is heavy; it’s weighty and often uncomfortable.
Excellence Requires Transformation
Transformation is embedded into the design of our lives. It’s not an option - it is a must. It’s not for some select people. We are all artwork waiting to be fully realized. God doesn’t create anything ordinary. Everything He creates is done in excellence. From the pastors to the janitors, from the doctors to the teachers, from the wealthy to the homeless, from the educated to uneducated, from the creatives to the designers, the bus drivers and the pilots, the scientists and the astronauts, the cooks and the servers, the young and the old and everyone in between - we are all meant to continuously transform into the fullness of His excellent creation.
The Mindset of Kings
To think like a king is to trust God above yourself - not just in the outcome of a situation, but in the way you choose to perceive everything. To be heavenly minded is to consult God in all things. It is to know that no matter what we may see or feel, our Father has a heavenly perspective that is perfect; it is better to align our thoughts with His on the basis of His perfect vision. The Mindset of a King is to choose to surrender your own desire to be right in exchange for the heart and mind of Christ.
Heaven on Earth
If I asked you what God wants to see in your life this year, would you have an answer? Before you begin to answer with all the things you want to see, remember that I asked what God said. I know that seems like a question that’s impossible to have an answer to but I can testify that that’s not true. God wants to invite us into the secret things concerning us. Of course, there’s so much we don’t get to know and have to continue to surrender to and obey in faith, but even still, there is so much that God wants to share with you, and more importantly, prepare you for.
